Because Nice Matters

Nacogdoches ISD believes that we all can make the choice to be nice to others.

During the 2013-14 year, we will be focusing on one character trait each month:

  • September 2013 - Courage
  • October 2013 - Honor
  • November 2013 - Wisdom
  • December 2013 - Joy
  • January 2014 - Knowledge
  • February 2014 - Courtesy
  • March 2014 - Forgiveness
  • April 2014 - Humility – Tell us why humility is important!
  • May 2014 - Endurance

Please join us in our effort to make Nacogdoches an even nicer place to live, work and study!

Daily Announcements

Traveling Art Show

Over 70 students from the Thomas J. Rusk Academy of Fine Arts will have their artwork on display through the months of April and May throughout the Nacogdoches community.

The artworks represent all grade levels and a variety of projects.  Also on display are news articles and photos of the special projects the art students have done this year such as an art display at the Old University Building and a collaborative shadow puppet show.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their mobile devices with a QR code reader so they will be able to scan the unique codes that lead to YouTube videos in which TJR students explain each project on display.  Videos are in both English and Spanish and will also include slideshows of past art projects that are not a part of the art display.

Below is a schedule of the dates and locations of the showcase:
  • April 7-25 – Judy B. McDonald Public Library, during regular hours
  • April 15 – SPECIAL EVENT: "Fine Arts Gala", 6-7 p.m. SFASU Student Center Theatre
  • April 28-May 9 – CBH Insurance (Old Mize Department Store) display windows
  • May 12-23 – Mike Moses Middle School

For more information, please contact Shelbye Specht, art teacher at TJR, at 936-569-3100 ext. 3111, or via email at sspecht@nacisd.org.

Symbaloo is a great tool for the students to use to go to the websites we are using.  We will be adding more from time to time.  Try them by clicking on the image below.  Teachers are directing students to use these sites in the lab and in their classrooms.
